This old number 8 is naturally hard. Some of this material may have a surface absorbent on it. This material is not stabilized. The #8 Turquoise Mine stopped producing turquoise in 1976. This means that as the stockpile of rocks from the site dwindle they will not be able to be replenished. This parcel has already been trimmed and tested for fractures. Each stone should be able to cut a cabochon between ring size to pendant size. The material is hard and not prone to breaking even without a treatment or backing.
