This old number 8 is naturally hard. Some of this material may have a surface absorbent on it. This material is not stabilized. The #8 Turquoise Mine was closed in 1976 and the stockpile set aside by its last owner will be last of this fine turquoise to be released on the market. This parcel has already been trimmed and tested for fractures. Each stone should be able to cut a cabochon between ring size to pendant size. The material is hard and not prone to breaking even without a treatment or backing.
